All five of our regular sides were in action on the opening day of the 1970-71 season, and we broke even with one win, three draws and one defeat.

As our two League games both took place in London, and Saturday's visit to White Hart Lane was featured on Sunday's ITV programme we do not have to go into a detailed review on these local derbies.

It was pleasing to collect a valuable point in the meeting with Spurs, especially so inasmuch as we twice recovered from a deficit to even up.

Before the game a leading firm of bookmakers was offering two-to-one that Jimmy Greaves would not score on the occasion of his return to his old "stamping grounds." But in typical fashion he added yet another " scalp " to his scoring " first times " and levelled the scores within a minute of the North Londoners taking the lead. The Spurs nullified this before the interval, but we again got a timely counter that left the game balanced with half-an-hour to go. All-in-all we considered the result a fair one.
